Gift for my father

One thing that my father likes to do during his free time is doing a videoke at home. He likes to sing especially some old song. Before Christmas came, our DVD player was broken, therefore, no videoke during Christmas day and no Christmas music or movies to play. Since new year still coming, I want to give my father a nice karaoke player as my gift for him. For sure he will likes it, then he can continue his singing again.

Christmas Greetings!

Our Christmas tree

Thursday, December 23, 2010

Our Christmas tree was up already last week, but If I forgot to take some pictures. And just three days ago I made some pictures to post here in my blog. These were the final results of all the hard work that my parents-in-law and I did during our Christmas decoration day. We used a fresh pine tree that gave a refreshing smell in the living room. Putting the Christmas decorations was a lot of work because mostly the Chrsitmas balls and other small decorations that need to hang in the tree were all fragile. It's all made of glass, so if it fell on the floor, then bye bye. So we’re all careful in unpacking it from the box and hang it on the tree.

It's very common to some people that they put presents/gifts under the tree, but guess what, we put something else. We have this miniature houses, people, trees, stores and other miniature things that we displayed under the tree. Then, the decoration looks like a miniature village surrounded with many snow. Most of these houses has light that adds beauty of the miniature village. It's so wonderful to see, but it's a lot of work because of the wiring that need to attach in each house. However, the final result was really nice so the hardworking that we spent were all worthy.

Another decoration that we add was just simple things to display, but still a lot of work because it needs to hang on the wall. It's a bit higher so need to stand on the couch or used the ladder.

Riding a sledge

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Have you ever tried to ride a sledge? Well, I did and it was my first time to ride on a sledge. It was snowing hard a few days ago and at the back of our house was an open space that all covered with snow. My father-in-law already wanted me to try riding a sledge to make me feel how fun it is and yeah he was right, it's fun. Although the first time I saw that sledge, I was hesitant to ride it because I'm shy to try. I first look around if there some people outside. Luckily on the day that I ride the sledge, I was in a hyper mood when I woke up in the morning. So I felt like I want to play outside with all the snow. My bro-in-law was free at that time so he was my bonding buddy because my husband was working. I had a nice experience sitting on the sledge and my bro-in-law was pulling it for me. Too bad it has no break because my bro-in-law was running so fast that even there's a bump he doesn't stop it for me. Well, good that I'm smart that directly I stand or else maybe I fell, LOL.

My husband and bro-in-law used to ride this sledge during their younger days. Therefore, this sledge is already almost 30 years old and still we can use it when we want.

Secured your child

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

A sister of mine who has two little kids have a hard time in taking care of it. She told me that it's difficult in her side because she is taking care it all alone. Her husband work as a soldier and assign in the other city, therefore, he is mostly away from home. Every time I visit my sister's house, I can't imagine the hard time she experienced right now. Every night she cannot sleep normally especially if one of the kids got sick or sometimes both of them got sick at the same time. It's hard in her side and she just feel relieve when her husband has few days/weeks vacation. Then, she has someone who can help her in taking care the kids and of course doing the household chores. In my last visit in their house, my sister and bro-in-law were discussing on how to secure their child safety especially when they are in their room or during nighttime. It happened already before that something happen in of my nephew and my sister didn't notice it. So now they are alert already for the security of their children. child safety is something very important for the parents. They don't want that something might happen to their children. They come up with an idea for having a hidden camera inside the children’s room. With this technology, they can see what the kids are doing and they can secure their safety. Aside from that, they wanted to have a nanny that could help my sister in taking care the kids.

RT and MY : Xmas decoration at Mall of Asia

PhotobucketMellowYellowBadge

Good day everyone! Once again it's Ruby Tuesday and Mellow Yellow meme. I missed many post a few weeks ago and now I'm back again. This week, I will share the Christmas decoration during our visit at the Mall of Asia. The decorations caught attentions to many people who entered the mall. Everyone gave a good compliment that it such a nice decoration in the mall. Many people grab the chance to take some pictures because when Christmas time is over, this decoration is also over.

What is mesothelioma?

Monday, December 20, 2010

I was watching a program on TV and I was intrigue by the discussion they had. The program was almost ending, so I have no idea what mesothelioma is. All I know that this is something that I want to search through the net, then I have some idea what it's all about. Upon looking up through the internet, I realized that it is a rare form of cancer that develops from the protective lining that covers many of the body's internal organs, the mesothelium. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos.

POS system

Every Saturday morning, hubby and I mostly accompany my mother-in-law for her weekly grocery. We always go to the big supermarket here in Den Haag because we can easily buy all the stuff that we need. I notice in the grocery that some people didn't form a line in the cashier. Instead, they used a bar code scanner. They scan it by themselves and it shows the total amount of the item they purchase. The transaction occurs at the POS systems (point of sale) or checkout. A "checkout" refers to a POS terminal or more generally to the hardware and software used for checkouts, the equivalent of an electronic cash register.

Laptop for my bro-in-law

I notice that some electronics stuff from Philippines are expensive than here in the Netherlands. I thought that I'm the only one notice it, but my husband also notice it the last time he visited the Philippines. When we visited some electronic store to look for laptops, computer and flat screen TV then we kept converting the price from pesos to euro. When my brother-in-law knew that laptop here in NL is not as expensive in the Philippines. He asked me if it's possible that I purchase a custom laptop for him and pay me back when I'm back in the Philippines. So I just see if I can find a nice laptop that is affordable enough for his budget.

I hate when the snow starts to melt

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Today, hubby and I went to the Bougaard shopping mall. It's one of the malls that I like to visit because it's a bit like the malls in the Philippines. Although it still keeps snowing here, it not the hindrance for us in going somewhere. I'm confident enough that the snow on the ground was still fresh, which means that it's not slippery to walk in my normal boots. But when I start walking outside, my boots often got slide because there were some frozen snow and melting snow on the ground. I hold hubby's arm to be sure that I don't fall on the ground, but annoying that most of the time my boots slide again and again. At first I find it all okay that it slide, but when it happened many times, I started to dislike it anymore walking outside. Then, my ears start to burn when hubby said to me that I did it intentionally. Whose crazy person want to get slide on the ground, huh???? When I heard that from him, directly came through my mind was packed up my stuff and want to go home in the Philippines. There I'm pretty sure that I don't get slide again and again. I never wish/dream that I will fall on the ground and broke my legs or so. My brother encountered shoulder dislocation and I witness the struggle he has right now. And that's the reason that I'm afraid that I fall on the ground just because of this snow. I realize that snow is fun when it's still fresh, but not when it melts and start to freeze.

Time for a change

Hubby got all his bills at the same. Upon calculating the overall payment, we were both surprised that it reached that high. We came up with the idea that maybe it's time to change our internet providers, mobile contracts or even the car insurance. We plan to look for another providers, contracts and insurance that is cheaper then the one we have right now. The internet and mobile contract goes quicker to switch because we know already a cheaper provider. However, the auto insurance takes us long to decide. We were looking for a cheapest auto insurance that is reliable and that offer good services. So hopefully one of these days we can find the one that we're looking for.

Useful rubber stamp

I woke up so early today because I felt some pain in my legs. It bothered me so much that I cannot go back in my sleep. As I check the clock, it was still past 2 AM. I wanted to get more hours of sleep, but I was lying in bed for one hour and half already and still all awake. So I've decided that I just surf through the net rather than lying in bed and just keep turning around. Upon surfing through the net, I came across a custom rubber stamp. Directly goes into my mind that this is very useful especially in this Christmas season. Many people here in Holland send some Christmas card to their family, friends or loved ones. So instead of writing your Christmas greetings or signature one by one in all the cards you send, then better use a rubber stamp. Aside that its easy, it also goes faster.

Successful Christmas party

I was so glad that the party that I attended last night went all okay. It's a Christmas party of my husband at his work and the wife/partner was also invited to join the celebration. At first, I doubt if I join the party because of the language barrier, but hubby insist that most of his colleagues speak English. Well, he was right, I heard some people speak English especially those people that came from Spain, Russia and Slovakia. It's hard to socialize some people if you have a hard time in communication, luckily most of them speak English, so I felt relieve. I find it easy to mingle as long they speak English to me and not Dutch language.

Anyway, I mingle a lovely couple there. They were friendly and I felt comfortable with the conversation that we had. They will get married next year and I see it in their face how excited they are already. It flashback me the time that hubby and I got married too. We cannot describe the feeling that we had before. I'm pretty sure they feel the same way. One thing that we talked was about the wedding ring that they want. They prefer a cubic zirconia rings because they find that lovely. Well, they still have enough time to search, so I'm pretty sure they can find the nice design that they like.

I’m a bit nervous for the party tomorrow

Friday, December 17, 2010

Tomorrow will be hubby's Christmas party at work and he asked me if it's okay that I accompany him to the party. He said it's just a dinner together with his colleagues and his bosses. So I just see what other activities they have in the program. Anyway, this is not the first time that I join some social gatherings of my husband, but I feel a bit nervous. I'm sociable enough to someone or even to some people that I don't know, but I'm nervous because of the language. Mostly people here speak dutch and I cannot easily cope up the conversation if it's all dutch language. That's the reason that I feel a bit nervous now. Well, I hope there are some people who speak English during the party, then for sure I will feel relieve.

HP desktop

Most of the time, when hubby use his normal computer, then I heard some complains that it hang or it turns off by itself. And I see that hubby starts to get irritate if his computer did not function so well. I suggested to him that maybe it's time to replace his old desktop into a brand new one. He still think about it if it's time to replace the old one. However, if he will buy a new one, then he prefers an hp desktops. He likes HP brand because they are durable and good quality.

Clothing for my size

I always have a hard time buying some clothes here in the Netherlands because of my size. Mostly the smallest size from the adults here seems too big for me. I'm a small lady, therefore, I need a special store that sells some petite clothing that fits for my size. Although sometimes I got some luck that I can find some blouses that fits for me, but jeans, so far never I found the one that exactly fits for me. Luckily I have enough clothing that I brought from Philippines, so I don't have to no worry about jeans that I need here.

Colored or black and white printing

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Which is more attractive to everyone's eye, black and white print or color print? Obviously, we prefer a colored one because it attracts more than the black and white printing. The color designs is more detailed and more interesting to view. Like for example, if your selling post cards, magazines or brochures, you cannot easily describe the place or an item if it's not colored. A word is not just enough to explain or to describe it, but watching the color picture can express a thousand words.

Break time

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

We supposedly put up our Christmas tree today, but sad to say that some lights did not function so well and some of it my mother-in-law threw it away last year. The fresh pine tree was up already and just need some Christmas decoration. However, we cannot move to the next decoration until we don't fill up the tree with some Christmas lights. It's boring if it's all balls and other stuff that hang on the tree and no lights at all. And now my parents-in-law rush to the stores to look for a new lights. I hope they can find the lights that they like, then we can continue our Christmas decoration. So while waiting for them, I do some blogging for the meantime *wink*.

Ruby ring for men

Sunday, December 12, 2010

I was chatted to my friend through yahoo messenger and it’s so nice to update each other’s life. We didn’t chat for long already, therefore many things or changes that happen in our lives. I was happy to hear it from her that she delivered a twins five months ago. And that’s one of the reason that I seldom see her online at yahoo messenger because of her busy schedules. She needs to take care her newly born twins. And now that she’s free because her parents-in-law visit them, she has time to surf through the net for a nice present for her husband for their upcoming wedding anniversary. She wants to give him an elegant men’s ruby rings. She showed to me the site where she found a nice ring that she likes and I was fascinated how beautiful it is. I’m sure her husband will love this kind of ring.

Yummy Sunday : Mexican foods

Just dropping by to post my Yummy Sunday entry for this week. I'm sharing the borito with taco and grilled pork chop, grill banana with mexican rice. Hubby and I ate this at the Mexican restaurant during our visit at the Mall of Asia, Philippines.

Our Christmas tree

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Christmas season is now in the air. Everyone is now busy decorating their house with Christmas stuff. My family in the Philippines had their Christmas tree displayed last month. Since we don't have a fresh pine tree, we mostly use an artificial christmas tree. The advantage of having an artificial tree is that you can save it for long and can use it for many Christmas season to come. Isn't that nice? No need to spend some money for just a Christmas tree every Christmas season.

Busy playing Sims 3

Friday, December 10, 2010

Wow, time fly so fast when you're busy with something. I was busy this past few days playing SIMS 3. The Sims is a strategic life-simulation computer game where you can create your own puppet and control it for his/her basic needs and another fun activities that you want to do in the game. In my busy days, I never notice that I did not post anything here in my blog. Almost a week was my last post here. Well, I had a great time playing Sims 3 with the latest expansions that hubby installed it for me. In this latest Sims 3, you can download several clothing for free. Isn't that fun? And no need to buy those clothing in the Sims store because once your puppet own a closet, then she can wear all the clothing that she wants.

Vintage t-shirt for him

A few days ago, I was shopping with my parents-in-law at the market here in Den Haag. I remember that the last time I visited the market was five months ago. And now that I'm back in NL, I was curious if there some changes of their clothing display in the market. So far, some clothing looks familiar for me and some were latest fashion for this year. I was hoping that I can find a vintage t-shirts for my brother as my birthday gift to him, but sad to say it wasn't there. Well, I try to check it this weekend if there some vintage t shirts that I can find through online store. And hope it affordable for my budget.
